I was devastated to hear the news, and I can only imagine how you and Steven's family must be going through.

I didn't know Steven very well, but my encounters with him really stood out in my memories. I remember the first time I met him with you at a New Year's Eve party to ring in the year 2001. We were playing some trivia game, and you were kicking ass! He was sooo proud of you! I remember him looking at you with adoring eyes and saying that you were good at everything =). And he loved you so much and knew he was so very lucky to be with you, because he mentioned it to me every time I saw him, at your birthday party at El Cholo in Santa Monica and when I ran into him at the San Diego Asian Film Festival.

I thought he was just so amazing when I spoke with him on the phone recently. He was obviously fatigued, but he focused so much on how you were doing and then later wanted you to apologize to me for being a "downer." These remembrances, and what you have written, really show that he was such a caring, thoughtful, giving, exceptional person. I know there are so many people whose lives he touched, and I feel fortunate to have known him.
