Here's a story that I will always remember about Steve:

I took my friend Ken to the New Year's party this year where he knew NO ONE. Let's face it, our little group of friends can be quite intimidating because of our long history together and I was concerned that Ken wouldn't have a good time.

However, Steve made a concerted effort to make Ken feel at home. He made conversation with Ken and pretty soon they bonded, especially while they waited in this terribly long line for drinks. Later, Steve asked me if I was dating Ken because he thought that Ken was a really interesting and good guy, and I remember thinking... gosh, Steve's so cool for opening his heart and embracing another human being whom he did not know. Ken was really impressed with him and so was I.
