When I first met Steven, I was automatically suspicious. Having been friends with Cindy, I knew what a good person Cindy was, and wanted only the best for her. Steven, however, immediately impressed me with his gentle, easygoing manner and the obvious mutual love and respect he shared with Cindy. I went home from that first dinner with Cindy and Steven and raved about him to my husband. Cindy doesn't know this, but as each one of our friends from LA met him and as we gossiped about the "new boyfriend", everyone would always say the same thing: how Steve was such a great guy, and how happy we were that Cindy and he found each other. It was obvious from the beginning that their relationship was special, and that Steven very well could be "The One." That conviction only deepened as time passed. Steven and I shared the painful experience of having dislocated shoulders before, which has a high reoccurrence rate. So while I shied away from any type of extreme sport or physical activity involving my shoulders, Steven remained passionate about his favorite activities regardless of consequences - from skateboarding to his avid fishing, even in freezing Bay Area waters, sometimes skipping dinner to finish his fishing. That is what I will remember most of Steven - his unwillingness to compromise on living life to the fullest. Steven, we were honored to have known you, and grateful for what you have taught us about the importance of life. -Tina Hua
